For Community Organizations

MCDC represents a collaboration of community organizations and data science students and experts from multiple Chicago-area universities and colleges with an emphasis on equity. The MCDC is an NSF Data Science Corps in the metropolitan Chicago area that focuses on the intersection of data science with three domain-science areas: health sciences, social sciences, and environmental sciences.

MCDC is excited to partner with community organizations, leveraging the skills of our students and faculty while also serving the community. We welcome inquiries and requests from all non-profit organizations in the Chicago area that are experiencing challenges or facing new opportunities related to the process of turning data into insights.

Practicum Courses: A project that happens at a single university and is fit within a pre-existing course. These projects can be starting points for Summer Internship projects, or stand-alone projects themselves.

Summer Internship: An 8-10 week project that happens during the summer. Teams are made of a combination of students from participating universities.

All projects are supported by a project mentor and liaison who work with you as the Community Partner to help manage the students, the communication, and the scope and final deliverables of the project.

To begin your process of determining whether or not MCDC can provide a good value to your organization, please take a minute to request a consultation from our team. We will be able to help you properly scope out your project’s needs as well as helping to establish a contact person specific to your request at MCDC.
