Research Overview
Our research focuses on the application of engineering principles and statistical models to evaluate health outcomes and locomotor stability in persons with musculoskeletal or neurological insult to support their independence and improve the quality of evidence-based rehabilitation practice. Research efforts include:
- Investigating the sensorimotor mechanisms that underlie postural control in individuals who use assistive devices
- Integrating mechanical characterization of prostheses and orthoses with in-silico and in-vivo studies to map relationships between device properties and user performance
- Development of user-centered, optimized assistive device technology to enhance user function and quality of life
