Research Interests:
My primary research interest is aimed at developing, testing, and optimizing non-pharmacological interventions for insomnia and other sleep disorders. Current research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health include the development and testing of a mindfulness-based intervention for insomnia (K23) and a clinical trial testing a multidisciplinary approach to treating obstructive sleep apnea and comorbid insomnia (R01). My broader research interests include interventions to reduce metabolic syndrome and sleep disturbances in chronic pain.
Arlener D. Turner, Ph. D. – Study Neuropsychologist
Role: I am the team neuropsychologist. My role includes meeting with participants on three separate occasions throughout the course of the study. My background and expertise is in Alzheimer’s Disease/cognitive (memory, attention, etc.) decline and cognitive dysfunction related to depressive disorders. My research interest is in the impact of sleep disturbance on cognitive functioning.
Bonnie Yap, M.S.- Study Coordinator
Role: I will be the point of contact for participants in the MATRICS study. My roles in this study include coordinating study visits, keeping in touch with participants, answering any study- related questions, and acting as one of the study therapists. I am currently a Ph.D. Student in Clinical Psychology. My research interests include health-related quality of life and financial distress related to healthcare.
