Jacob ADESINA is a doctoral student in the Department of History at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, United States of America. He holds a B.A. History and International Studies and M.A. History from Osun State University and the University of Ibadan, respectively. Jacob is an Africanist researcher interested in Music and Statecraft in Pre-colonial African societies, specifically, in Yorubaland. He is also interested in Slavery, Slave Abolition, and Post-emancipation African communities; Yoruba Communities in the Atlantic World; Empires and Wars in Africa; Market Women Affairs, Sociality of Pleasure, and Social History of Music in Yorubaland. He has worked and collaborated with Scholars in Nigeria, Europe, and America. He has also been involved in multiple research projects, including a University College, London research project on “African Abolitionism: The Rise and Transformation of Anti-Slavery in Africa (AFRAB).”
