Elizabeth (Adeyemo) Wahab received her PhD in Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame where she’s currently a teaching scholar. She also holds a MSc. Conservation Studies Degree from University College London (UCL) Qatar (2017), and a B. A. in Archaeology from the University of Ibadan (2014). Elizabeth is a heritage management specialist with interest in archaeology, archival research, the application of material science techniques in heritage research, and museum development. She specializes in the studies of archaeological ceramics, using pottery as a resource to investigate structures and sociocultural lifeways in the past. Her doctoral dissertation explored socioconomic and political complexities in the ancient Igbo Ukwu community by investigating provenance, technological production processes, and patterns of consumption in the Igbo Ukwu ceramic industry. Her Masters dissertation at UCL examined the materials and technological processes used in the manufacture of the glazes of selected ceramic wares from archaeology excavations in Qatar. Since 2009, Elizabeth has worked on and led archaeological projects in Nigeria (the Owu Project, the Old Oyo Project, and the Igbo Ukwu Project), Qatar, Papua New Guinea, Turkey (Kaymakçi Archaeology Project), and Italy (MEMOLab Universidad de Granada). She is a member of “The Chemistry of History: Technology, Mobility, and Trade in West Africa, 400 BC-AD 1830” working group in the Material History Lab.
