Catch the light

Mini-Challenge #5

“What Mobile Game Would You Make if You Had $275,000 and 6mos-1 year?”

A game idea I have is a for a adventure/detective game where players are faced with finding a the right floor level of a lit apartment in a powerless old city. Because the building is old getting to the apartment becomes harder, players would have to find clues in the entrance of the building, picking which elevator is safe to go into based on clues. Then from clippings on the floor and sounds coming from certain areas try to decide where to head to next. The game would aim to merge sound and light into players gameplay experience.

In order to be able to make this game with a $250 thousand budget and a 1 year time frame I would first focus on building a team who has experience in the field in order to be able to meet the time frame I have. Targeting people who have been a part of similar games to mine with the kind of quality I’m aiming for.On the team would be multiple artists because creating is time consuming, but also a programer, engineers, sound composer and a project manager/ producer. 120k of the budget would go towards engineering and 50k towards programing the game. With the remaining 85k, 40k would go towards art, 10k towards writers and 15k towards social media and with the rest 40k going towards user testing, storing plans, renting out studios to work in and whatever comes up during the process.

I would have the game be a 3D game made using unity as the game engine as I want the visuals of the game to be a priority. Targeted devices would be both mobiles as well as PCs. I want the art style be be a merge between old architecture while there being futuristic elements and color pallets inside the building.
