Northwestern University’s Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics (CIERA) is honored to be hosting and organizing the March 2023 LVK collaboration meeting.

About CIERA

Under the direction of Dr. Vicky Kalogera, the mission of the Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics is to promote research and education in astrophysics through support of independent postdoctoral fellows, advanced graduate and undergraduate research, a vigorous visiting researchers program, and multi-faceted seminars, education, and public outreach programs. Special emphasis is given to interdisciplinary connections with computer science, applied math, statistics, electrical and mechanical engineering, planetary science, education and the arts.

Research at CIERA

Researchers at CIERA study a wide variety of topics, all with the aim of advancing the field of astrophysics and expanding our understanding of the Universe. Primary research topics include: Gravitational waves and multi-messenger astronomy, black holes & dead stars, the life and death of stars, stellar dynamics & stellar populations, exoplanets & the solar system, and galaxies & cosmology.
