Use MS Teams with Canvas

Microsoft Teams is integrated with Northwestern Canvas courses

The Microsoft Teams integration with Canvas (also called Class Teams or Microsoft Teams classes) is available in all Canvas courses and allows instructors to create a team to chat and collaborate with their students – during and in-between classes. Students can engage real-time with others in the class (in-person or remote) using the Teams client on their laptop and/or using the phone app.

When enabled in a Canvas course, a team is automatically created and all of the students are added as team members. The team will automatically update membership each time a student is added or dropped from the course. Following installation, all Microsoft Teams interactions are handled in the Teams app, not in Canvas.

Installation instructions and resources are available in the Canvas Learning Center.

Give it a test drive

Join a test Canvas site (as a student) and see MS Teams in action. It has been configured to have Class Discussions and Polls channels.  If you have questions or wish to proceed, schedule a consultation with Ishrat.
