Overview
On this page learn about blended learning and its benefits, faculty testimonials and recording examples; in addition, connect to a step-by-step guide in the Digital Innovation Playbook and an opportunity to consult with a member of the Digital Innovation team for a review of your syllabus and opportunities to incorporate blended instruction.
Blended Instruction is a course design format that combines real-time, in-class learning with learning online. Thus, blended instruction offers both synchronous and asynchronous learning. For blended instruction to be effective, there must be clear purpose and thoughtful design behind its use. To facilitate learning online, an instructor would create instructional videos typically for subjects that are universal and unambiguous.
Once the instructor creates an video lecture, he or she can use it repeatedly. Thus a video is a durable asset because it can be used over and over.
For students, it affords a flexible learning opportunity because they can learn at a time that’s convenient for them. In addition, they can view these videos over and over. Blended learning offers opportunities for greater student collaboration through discussions and group learning.
