The latest version of Zoom is version 5.6.0 – view instructions to update your Zoom client. Following are 2 new updates introduced in Zoom which you may want to take advantage of this quarter.
- Allowing guests into an authenticated meeting (Authentication Exception) – You can now designate a guest’s email address as “safe” ahead of time so that they can join directly into a meeting without having to use the Waiting Room feature. This allows you to keep the recommended “Authenticated Users Only” security setting active for all of your class meetings. After your class session is scheduled via Canvas Zoom, your VCM should log into their NU Zoom account, edit that particular class session and click the option to add an authentication exception. They will enter the guest’s name and email address, and the guest will receive an email invitation with a unique link to the meeting that allows them to bypass the NU authentication. - Closed Captioning with Live Transcription – As host you will see a “CC Live Transcript” icon in the Zoom toolbar. To use it, you have to enable it for each class session and then students can then choose to turn on live transcription on their end. Learn how
