June 9, 2023: Our former VSSTP fellow, Vivek Pamulapati, graduates from general surgery residency today! So proud of his accomplishments and wish him the best as he moves on to acute care surgery fellowship at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

June 2, 2023: Dinner at the Galway Arms. We say a fond farewell to Jon Jung and Spencer Stirewalt and wish them the best as they leave the lab and head off to shiny bright futures. We will miss you. Thank you both for your hard work and cameraderie!

May 12, 2023: Sarbjeet Niraula gives a talk at Vascular Discovery in Boston, his first at a national conference. Way to go!  Jon Jung presents a poster at Vascular Discovery. Karen gets FAHA. An all around great meeting!

 

 

May 11, 2023: We join Bin Jiang and Calvin Chao for dinner at Giulia’s in Cambridge and everyone gets to see where Karen used to live (a trip down memory lane)

February 24, 2023: Jon Jung is invited to give a research talk at Department of Surgery Grand Rounds (and shows his Northwestern spirit with his tie): “Lentivirus shRNA-mediated knockdown of FFAR3 inhibits endothelial cell function”

February 16, 2023: Vivek Pamulapati‘s paper on a multi-parameter flow cytometry analysis of the inflammatory infiltrate after murine femoral artery injury has been accepted to Cells! Lots of hard work and help from Jon, Liqun, Tracy, and collaborators. YAY!

January 7, 2023: Jon Jung gives a great talk about his research project on FFAR3 at the Academic Surgical Congress in Houston, TX.

2022

December 14, 2022: Division of Vascular Surgery holiday party at the historic “Tip Top Tap” Warwick Allerton Hotel. Grandma Ho is excited to meet everyone!

December 7, 2022: We joined the Department of Surgery lab residents for holiday lunch and secret Santa at Robert’s Pizza!

October 19, 2022: Our paper on microbe-derived metabolites and PAD is accepted for publication in Microorganisms!

September 17, 2022: Vivek Pamulapati gives a plenary session talk at Society of Asian Academic Surgeons Annual Meeting and receives the Esther Tsai Sugg Research Award!

September 15, 2022: We have 3 posters at FSM’s 16th Annual Landsberg Research Day – the culmination of everyone’s hard work. Look forward to seeing these projects develop!

August 19, 2022: The lab celebrates Karen’s birthday in absentia. Food and cake look GREAT, guys!

June 24, 2022: Lynnette Dangerfield was awarded the “Administrative Excellence in Public Service Award” from Admin Awards! She was honored at a very special Chicagoland Admin Awards Gala at the Chicago Marriott Marquis Hotel – check out the gallery images here. Our lab’s tribute video clip is 00:23-00:30!

June 10, 2022: The William H. Pearce, MD Research Symposium was another smashing success! Thank you, Lynnette, for your hard work coordinating this event for the department. All lab members contributed to poster presentations – YAY! Sarbjeet Niraula received “Research with Distinction” in the Fellows abstract competition.

February 3, 2022: Vivek Pamulapati is awarded the 2022 Esther Tsai Sugg Award for the highest scored abstract by a member of the Society of Asian Academic Surgeons at the Academic Surgical Congress. Kudos, Vivek!

February 1, 2022: Vivek Pamulapati gives a quickshot presentation at the AAS Resident/Fellow Competition  at the 17th Academic Surgical Congress in Orlando, FL. His abstract scored in the top 10% of all submissions. Good luck, Vivek!
