The heart of this experience will be in Amsterdam, Netherlands, at the Atelier Building (Ateliergebouw), a core facility which houses laboratories dedicated to research into cultural heritage. Additionally, time will be spent at the University of Amsterdam, the Rijksmuseum, the scientific research arm of the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands, the Delft University of Technology, and the Netherlands Forensic Institute. Collaborations with scientists at major US Museums such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery in Washington, DC will provide a broad interdisciplinary focus for the IRES students.
