New Student Checklist

Complete the clinical field placement Intake Form

In order for the Counseling@Northwestern Placement Team to begin the placement process, you must submit a mandatory electronic placement form. A unique link to your placement form will be provided to you via email following your Wildcat Call. If you have not received this link via email, please contact your Student Success Advisor. If you do not already have your Northwestern email address, please provide your personal email. You can locate your seven-digit Student ID number at the bottom of your admit letter.


Submit official transcripts

ou must provide all official transcripts. Please send them to:

All Official transcripts received via mail must be in a sealed envelope from the registrar’s office. Official electronic transcripts can be sent to applicationservices@counseling.northwestern.edu and must be password protected from a certified electronic transcript vendor.


Submit a background check

1. Go to the secure link:

https://www.castlebranch.com

2. In the “place order” field on the top right-hand corner, enter the code specific to Counseling@Northwestern – Code: NR31bg

3. Complete the personal information page

4. You will be prompted to create a personal account. The email address you use when placing your order will become the primary form of communication for alerts and messages. Once you setup your account you will have access to:

i. View your order results

ii. Manage the requirements specific to your program

5. Complete each section of the screening profile

i. Choose a payment option

ii. Visa or Mastercard $50 fee

6. Select submit


Activate your Net ID for CAESAR access

CAESAR is the administrative portal used for registration, student health insurance, emergency contact information, and financial services. You must activate your Net ID and set up your university email to access CAESAR. Your NetID is your key to the tools and resources Northwestern has to offer. You will receive an email from The Graduate School with the subject Northwestern NetID and Email Activation Instructions.” (CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER.) Once you have received an activation code, you can activate it by going to NUValidate.

  1. Enter your NetID as the user name and your activation code as the password.
  2. Follow the password creation guidelines and establish answers to your security questions.

Set up your NU Email account

All students (except Kellogg, Pritzker, and Feinberg students) use G Suite accounts for email, calendaring, and collaboration. You should have activated your G Suite account as part of your NetID activation process. Otherwise, you can activate it at https://umail.northwestern.edu/activate.


Finalize your financial plan, including FAFSA

Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit supporting documents where required. The FAFSA must be completed for each academic year to determine eligibility for federal loans. (Continued on page 12)

Complete your Student & Placement Orientation courses

in 2NU

To access 2NU:

Password: Please go to your personal email account to receive your temporary password to log in or select “Forgot Password”

You have been granted access to your orientation courses in 2NU which you must complete prior to the start of your classes. You can access your Student Orientation and Placement Orientation courses on your Dashboard.
