Chicago Mayor Recognizes the Power of Collaborative Water Research

At the Water Technology & Environment Control (WATEC) Conference in Israel, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel witnessed the signing of an MOU that outlines ways to increase collaboration between Northwestern University and Ben-Gurion University’s Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research. The mayor’s comments about interdisciplinary investigation, cross-country partnerships, and the importance of water (in)security research reflected, in many ways, a broader political recognition of the great potential and importance of the HWISE project. Indeed, the holistic approach and cooperative nature of the HWISE project was specifically highlighted at the signing. It is our hope that our team will continue to recruit individuals from a diversity of countries and backgrounds to produce the most impactful and comprehensive results.
