Middle school kids gather around David Shyovitz innovative lesson on Medieval Jewish history

David Shyovitz is awarded a “Special Commendation for Curricular Innovation” by the Medieval Academy of America

David Shyovitz and his colleague Ahuva Liberles (Yale) are awarded a “Special Commendation for Curricular Innovation” by the Medieval Academy of America; it will be presented in February at the MAA’s annual meeting in DC. The prize recognizes the work both professors did over a Jewish summer camp of 2022. Shyovitz and Liberles led a six-week immersive Medieval Jewish history curriculum for middle and high school students.

Shyovitz continues to bridge academic scholarship with public history and communal engagement.
