IPOL 349: Qatar, Energy, Security and Strategic Planning
The global energy market is a dynamic market that is shaped by factors like politics, geopolitical events, and most importantly the constantly changing supply and demand. Even though Qatar is a small state, it is one of the key energy actors in the LNG market. This course gave the insight to understand Qatar’s role as an international energy supplier. Qatar has been trying to keep up with this dynamic energy market, as seen recently after the blockade. The blockade was the result of the continuous embargo between Qatar and its neighboring countries. As a result, Qatar was obligated to take economic diversification more seriously with a special focus on education, sport, and culture. Qatar also observed some changes when it comes to its diplomatic relationships, giving the state an opportunity to strengthen its ties with countries like Turkey, Iran, and Korea.
