GOVT 060: International Relations

This course explores the political interactions between different nations around the globe. It covered a broad range of topics including the historical development of international order, theories to understand diplomatic relations as well as the role of international organizations and institutions. Historically, there have been several dominant international orders that have shaped the world in different ways. The international order is characterized by change and competition rather than the presence of one single order. In the past the US and Soviet Union that underwent intense competition between themselves and their allies. However, after the 2000s the world has become more multipolar with states like China and Russia rising as important actors. This and other factors that shape states and non-state actors were the topic of class discussions in this course.
