Nihmot Adebayo is a senior pre-medical undergraduate student in Northwestern’s Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. She is studying Neuroscience and Global Health. Having lived in three other countries prior to residing in the U.S, her research interests are centered around global mental health. She is interested in understanding how cultural predisposes and protects individuals from common mental health disorders, how culture shapes an individual’s brain circuitry and lastly, how culture affects and dictates an individual’s understanding and perception of their mental health illnesses. As a member of the Multisensory Lab since her freshman year at NU, Nihmot has enjoyed being able to work with her PIs and graduate students to understand and learn how research studies are designed, implemented and brought to life. She credits her time in the lab for fostering her love of research and letting her explore what research entails.
