First Meeting of Winter Quarter 2013

Welcome back to everyone, we are excited for our first meeting of the quarter!

Global Health links to check out:

As always, please give to the Adonai Center in Uganda!

US ranks poorly with public health

Perhaps you are not surprised, but a recent study says the US is quite unhealthy compared to other equivalently developed nations.  But this might surprise you: despite the low score, the US spends more on health care than any other country in the world.  Clearly being healthy and spending are not as directly correlated as once perceived. Share your thoughts, let us know what you think the US should do, what we can learn from other nations, and even maybe what we can learn from grassroots public and global health organizations like GlobeMed.

Don’t forget to donate to our partner organization in Uganda, the Adonai Child Development Center!

Welcome back to campus

We welcome everyone back to campus for the start of a hopefully very successful winter quarter for everyone, and we hope that you all had wonderful and relaxing winter breaks.  GlobeMed at Northwestern will be in full swing very shortly, so keep it here at globemednu.org for all the latest!

In the mean time, check out the latest in the never-ending fight against drug-resistant diseases such as gonorrhea, read our newsletter from fall quarter if you haven’t already yet, and donate to support our partner, the Adonai Child Development Center, in Namugoga, Uganda!

Happy New Year from GlobeMed at Northwestern!

Here’s to a happy, healthy, and peaceful 2013, a year that will be even better than the last!!

Also, check out this article about HIV/AIDS in China and how grassroots organizations (similar to GlobeMed) are stepping up to the plate.

If you’re in the GlobeMed chapter, apply to the annual summit here!

We are wrapping up our individual giving campaign, but there’s still time to donate!  Thanks for your support this holiday season
