Caption: A member of the Brigade of Gurkhas stands guard at Buckingham Palace in London, fulfilling one of the duties of the King’s Guard. The Brigade of Gurkhas is a formation in the British Army comprised of Nepalese Gurkha soldiers. These soldiers originally served the East India Company, the British Indian Army before Indian independence, and then later the British Army after Indian Independence, spanning a history of over 200 years in service to the British Army. While postings for the King’s Guard are usually formed by the British Army Foot Guards, recognizable by their red coats and bearskin hats, there are occasions when other line infantry regiments, such as the Brigade of Gurkhas, are called upon to take part in this ceremonial duty, showcasing their long-standing history and tradition of service.

Caption: The Madina Market is one of the most popular markets in Ghana, and is located in the Legon area. You can find anything from impromptu mobile stores to permanent establishments in the area. Marketplaces such as these are where most locals come to shop. You can find anything you need. From shea butter to fried fish to women offering to braid your hair–it has it all. Locals would have their shops set up as early as 4 AM to start the market day and it can get very crowded by the evening. This was taken on a bridge on the outskirts of the market.
