In our respective study abroad institutions, we’ve seen plenty of student activism on campus, advocating for various causes.
An elevator on campus at NOVA: FSCH in Lisbon, Portugal, advocating for educational equalityAt Natalie’s school in Lisbon, Portugal, students put stickers on a main elevator, advocating for education equality and free education access for all.
At Chiara’s school in Paris, France, students hung nude photos of women, advocating for gender and reproductive equality.
It is great to see young people fighting for what they think is right through art. Moreover, both campuses display these students are thinking along the lines of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: notably, Goal 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions), Goal 10 (reduced inequalities), as well as Goal 4 (quality education) and Goal 5 (gender equality).
