London, England
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Paris, France
Bologna, Italy
In this post, we chose to focus on architecture as a guiding theme. While 3 of us are studying in Europe (London, France, and Italy) and 1 in Asia (Vietnam), we can see beautiful architecture across cultures and thousands of miles away.
The first photo depicts the Palace of Westminster in London, which is the House of Parliament, and also the spot where Queen Elizabeth’s body laid for people to pay their respects. There was a line that was 5 miles long where people were waiting to see her. Some waited for 30+ hours, and some even multiple days. The photo depicts the guards and other people arriving for her vigil a few hours before the Royal Family arrived.
The second photo is a statue of Trần Hưng Đạo in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Trần Hưng Đạo was a leader in Vietnam’s Tran Dynasty, known for protecting Vietnam from invasions. This photo displays Vietnam’s development, represented through the construction of large buildings in Ho Chi Minh City after the Vietnam War, and the motorbike culture.
The third photo is of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. It was taken on a boat tour of the Seine River, the city’s central water feature.
The last photo is of Le Due Torre, a famous landmark in Bologna, Italy. The towers were built by noble families during the Middle Ages.
