How to Use

Introduction

Our design consists of 4/3 by 4 inch strips of setex attached in increments of 4 inches along the length of the therapy band; the setex works similar to a double sided tape, except that one side is composed of nano-structures mimicking setae: the microscopic hairs on gecko feet which can stick to almost any surface. Having multiple strips along the sides of the band permits the band to be adjustable; it can be altered to meet the needs of any sized patient.

Instructions

The following instructions tell a patient how to use the GeckBand.

Linear

  1. Use band the same as a traditional therapy band

Looped

  1. Set the band to the preferred loop size by pressing the end with setex firmly onto its corresponding setex strip (make sure that the setex is sticking completely to setex rather than a section of the therapy band)
  2. Perform exercise. (For better performance: place the part of the band with setex against your skin)
  3. To adjust the loop size, peel the end of the band away from the strip that it is connected to, and press it firmly to a new strip of setex.
  4. To detach, simply peel the ends of the band apart.
  5. To obtain maximum adhesive strength, avoid touching the adhesive surface of the strips. If dirt/dust or other contaminants gets on the setex strip, dab its surface with any regular adhesive tape or rinse with rubbing alcohol and let dry.
