About

Sarah earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Studies with a physical science concentration from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2021. She then completed a Master’s in Chemistry with a minor in Physics at the University of Minnesota – Duluth in 2023. Sarah conducted research involving the use of multiple modalities of time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy (including FCS, TRA, TRF, and FLIM) to characterize fluorescent biosensors under Ahmed Heikal. Sarah’s work and dedication has been recognized by several awards, including the Biophysical Society travel grant award in 2023 and several ACS undergraduate student awards at Gustavus. Sarah was also recognized with a ThinkSwiss research scholarship in 2020 that had to be declined due to COVID.

Extracurricular activity(ies): Reading, classical music, baking, and finding new coffee shops Book: Currently heading the list of books is Stephen King’s Fairy Tale, but long-standing favorites include JRR Tolkien, Jane Austen, Louise Penny, and Anne Hillerman.  Scientist: Niels Bohr Laser: HeNe
