About

Pankaj earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Delhi in 2016 and master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali in 2019. During his master’s thesis, he was involved in constructing two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2D ES) setup and studied solvation dynamics using 2D ES and transient absorption spectroscopy. He then moved to Germany in 2019 and started his PhD program at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPIP) under the supervision of Mischa Bonn and Maksim Grechko. During his PhD, he contributed towards the development of two-dimensional terahertz-infrared-visible (2D TIRV) spectroscopy. These developments allowed to resolve low-frequency THz motions in aqueous solution of proteins. In 2023, he was awarded PhD from the University of Amsterdam for the research performed at MPIP. He then stayed in the same group as a Postdoctoral Researcher until February 2024. In March 2024, Pankaj joined the Gaynor group at Northwestern University as a Postdoctoral Researcher.
