Graduate Students:

We are currently looking for motivated graduate students who are excited to build state-of-the-art ultrafast spectroscopy instrumentation and discover how photochemistry in molecules and materials happens on the attosecond, femtosecond and picosecond timescales. Prior experience in our field is not required, but a positive attitude, inclusive mindset, and enthusiasm for our work is expected. If you are an admitted or current graduate student with an interest in joining our team, please send James an email describing your motivation to join our group and please include your C.V. as an attachment.

Prospective graduate students who are interested in joining a new experimental physical chemistry laboratory should apply to the Northwestern Department of Chemistry Graduate Program.

Postdoctoral Researchers:

The group is always on the lookout for qualified, motivated postdoctoral researchers. Experience in the following areas is particularly desirable: ultrafast spectroscopy, multidimensional spectroscopy, high-harmonic generation or X-ray science, operating high vacuum systems and femtosecond lasers. If you are interested, please send James a single PDF document containing:

  1. A brief (1 page) cover letter indicating your research interests and motivation for joining our group
  2. A 2-page summary of your research accomplishments
  3. An updated CV including a full publications list and contact information for at least three references
  4. Reprints of your most significant publication(s) to date (up to 3)

Undergraduate and High-School Students:

Please send an email to James describing your interest in joining our group and include your C.V. if you are interested in our research directions and learning how to design, build, and use ultrafast spectroscopic instruments. No prior experience is required, but a positive attitude, inclusive mindset, and enthusiasm for the type of research we do is expected.
