Welcome to the Family Asthma Study at Northwestern University!

The Family Asthma Study, a project of the Foundations of Health Research Center at Northwestern University, is a 5-year study funded by the National Institutes of Health.

In this study, we are trying to learn more about why some children experience worse asthma than others.

We are studying how environments shape children’s asthma.  We think about both the physical environment – e.g., pollution – as well as the social environment, and how experiences like stress or violence can contribute to asthma.

We are interested in how different types of communities and different types of families can affect children’s asthma.
