Sex, Scandal, and Civilization: An Investigation of Sarah Wentworth Morton’s Critique of Western Society in Ouâbi
By Erin Leary
Erin Leary studies English literature and environmental policy and culture. In her upcoming research projects, she will explore the inseparability of the history of European settlement and development of the Mississippi River from ongoing oppression and removal of Native Americans, as well as the ways texts that discuss the Mississippi River expose differing ideologies about nature that may or may not support combating climate change. She hopes to pursue a PhD in English literature with a focus on environmental issues.
