Biography

Elizabeth Shulman has been teaching for 20 years, and has been at Northwestern University since 2019 and at Evanston Township high School since 2013. Shulman received her B.A. in English and Hebrew from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.Ed. from Loyola University Chicago, and an M.A. in English and Hebrew Literature from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Shulman has conducted grant-sponsored research in Israel and facilitated dialogue programs between Israeli and Palestinian youth. She has also received grants from the National Endowment of the Humanities to study in Mississippi, Florida, and Atlanta. Shulman works with students and teachers to integrate anti-racist pedagogy into content-specific curricula. Shulman is also a creative nonfiction writer.
