Sonified seismic data feature in a new podcast by Data Skeptic

Sonified seismic data feature in a new podcast by Data Skeptic, entitled “Earthquake Detection with Crowd-sourced Data”. In this podcast, Omkar Ranadive talks with podcast host Kyle Polich about using audio and visual representations of weak seismic signals labeled by volunteers, called citizen scientists, to train a machine-learning algorithm. The volunteer-sourced data set was collected by the Earthquake Detective project on zooniverse.orgEarthquake Detective is operated by graduate students who are IDEAS trainees at Northwestern University  led by Dr. Vivian Tang.  IDEAS is an interdisciplinary NSF funded Research Traineeship for Data-driven discovery in geophysical, astrophysical, and other physical sciences, and is managed by the CIERA.
