NU Trends in Ergodic Theory is supported by the RTG “Dynamics: Classical, Modern, and Quantum”.
- Summer School: July 29-August 2, 2024
- Conference: August 5-9, 2024
- All events held on Northwestern University’s Evanston campus
Summer School
- This school introduces early graduate students to modern ergodic theory and prepare them for the conference NU Trends in Ergodic Theory. The school will cover several aspects of modern ergodic theory at a level suitable for those with a background in analysis. Each of the lecturers will give four lectures. Accompanying problem sessions will give participants the opportunity to practice working with the tools of ergodic theory.
Summer School Speakers and Mini-Courses
- Vitaly Bergelson (The Ohio State University): The dynamical underpinnings of some old and new results in combinatorics and number theory
- Sebastian Donoso (University of Chile) and Anh Le (University of Denver): Introduction to Multiple Ergodic Averages: Nilpotent Structures, Recurrence, and New Challenges
- Rachel Greenfeld (Northwestern University): Two Approaches to Translational Tilings: Combinatorial and Ergodic Theoretic
- Wenbo Sun (Virginia Tech): Spherical higher order Fourier analysis
Conference
- The NU Trends in Ergodic theory conference brings together researchers working on many aspects of ergodic theory and its applications to share recent developments. Preceded by a summer school for graduate students, the conference aims to encourage interactions between young researchers and research leaders, and to communicate new techniques to the community.
