Sustainable Fuels

Transportation contributes about 25-30% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.  Reducing these emissions relies on fuels that emit few greenhouse gases over the course of their life and vehicles that can use low-carbon fuels efficiently.

In our group, we are interested in biofuels’ role in decreasing transportation’s greenhouse gas emissions, electric vehicles, and the role of shale gas and natural gas liquids as a bridge towards enabling a fuels future that is more sustainable.   In the latter case, we collaborate through the Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources (CISTAR).
