Water

Water is indisputably essential. In our group, we have several projects and efforts to explore energy-efficient desalination and wastewater and nutrient recovery.

The first project is the Israel-U.S. Collaborative Water-Energy Research Center. Our group is responsible for evaluating the cost and sustainability benefits of the technology developed in the center and for developing new approaches to carrying out these evaluations. Furthermore, we aim to contribute analyses that shed light on solutions to water scarcity and resource recovery from wastewater.

The second project aims to recover N from waste streams (wastewater, manure, food waste) and develop products from animal feed to specialty chemicals. We are evaluating the technological approaches developed within the project and developing analytical approaches to evaluating nutrient circularity. Furthermore, we are evaluating how wastewater treatment is evaluated within integrated assessment models and identifying and implementing potential improvements.
