GROUP OVERVIEW

In the Systems Analysis Research Group, we use tools including techno-economic, life-cycle, and materials flow analysis to evaluate the cost competitiveness and sustainability of emerging technologies including byproducts, circular manufacturing systems, low-carbon fuels, nutrient recovery, and desalination systems. We collaborate with other groups at Northwestern, around the country, and internationally to achieve systems-levels perspectives.

We are on Research Gate

Bioeconomy

Using our biomass resource effectively and sustainably towards decarbonization

Plastics

Developing strategies for increased circularity in plastics systems

Water

Evaluating technologies to reduce water scarcity and increase nutrient recovery

Sustainable Fuels

Characterizing the role of fuels from biomass, fossil resources, and other renewables in shaping sustainable transportation
