Dr. LaToya Flowers-Roe
LaToya Flowers-Roe currently serves as core faculty and director of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the counseling at Northwestern University program. In her current role, she revamped the Multicultural Counseling course, spearheaded a program-wide DEI curricular audit, and started the first ever DEI Student Advisory Board within the online counseling program. Dr. Flowers- Roe is a licensed professional counselor with a specialization in marriage, couples, and family counseling. She practices in the downtown Chicago area, where she focuses on assisting couples and families with issues regarding infidelity, relationship power dynamics, parenting, and communication. Her research interests center around adult playfulness, the neuroscience of love and play, and evidence-based best practices to increase romantic relationship satisfaction and stability. She frequently presents at local, national, and international conferences on topics regarding DEI and couple/family relationship dynamics. Dr. Flowers-Roe has consistently been involved in various professional associations, including Chi Sigma Iota, and most recently served as an Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Emerging Leader. She is the 2022 recipient of the Outstanding Diversity Award presented by the North Central Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
