Yohana Tecleab
Yohana Tecleab is completing a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwestern University (June 2023). After earning a B.S. in Biology from Texas Woman’s University, her pursuit towards the medical field was redirected to counseling. Currently, Yohana is a clinical intern at I Choose Change private practice where she offers individual, couples, and family counseling. Her passion for teens and emerging adults is fused with an emphasis on multiculturalism, psychodynamic theory, neuro-informed counseling, and trauma-based approaches. Through her myriad of intersectionalities as an Eritrean American, her rich experiences and matriculation throughout the Northwestern program have led to reflective efforts toward shedding light on the underserved demographic of Black Teens. Yohana’s future goals are to continue solidifying contemporary frameworks of Black Teens through collaborative research, obtaining further certifications, and continued counseling practice.
