About Me

I’m an Associate Professor in the Linguistics Department at Northwestern University.

As a sociolinguist, I study how we create, learn, and represent the social through language.

My research brings together insights and methods from sociolinguistics and social theory with speech perception and psycholinguistics, primarily through the investigation of phonetic variables.

When I’m not on the clock, I’m probably hanging out with my family in Chicago, where we live, planning my next knitting project, or consuming content about pop culture or high-control groups (and especially their intersections).
