We are excited to welcome Eden Gedangoni to the Dichtel Research Group: Eden Gedangoni grew up in Boston, MA, and attended Wellesley College, where she earned a BA in Chemistry. While at Wellesley, she worked under Professor Dora Carrico-Moniz, focusing on designing, synthesizing, and evaluating water-soluble analogues as pancreatic anticancer agents. She was nominated for membership to the Sigma Xi Scientific Honor Society for her thesis work and earned departmental honors. After completing her undergraduate studies, Eden transitioned to a full-time role at Veranova (formerly Johnson Matthey Health), where she worked as a chemist in the large-scale synthesis and purification of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. She eagerly looks forward to joining Professor Will Dichtel’s renowned research group, known for its cutting-edge work in materials science. In this dynamic environment, she intends to focus on creating and optimizing novel polymer materials specifically designed to remove per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in water purification systems. Through her research, she hopes to contribute to developing effective solutions for one of the most challenging environmental issues of our time—contaminated water sources. By leveraging advanced techniques and thorough testing, she aims to investigate how these innovative polymers can enhance filtration processes and ultimately lead to safer, cleaner water for communities. Welcome aboard, Eden!
