We are thrilled to welcome Gray Harlan to the Dichtel Research Group, where his expertise will be invaluable. Gray obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis in September 2024, under the guidance of Professor Jonathan Barnes. Gray made remarkable strides in catenane chemistry throughout his doctoral research, particularly by synthesizing complex higher-order linear catenanes. He also developed innovative methods to seamlessly integrate these intricate structures into densely crosslinked thermosets, a significant advancement in materials science.
In the Dichtel lab, Gray will focus on the fabrication of PFAS absorbent materials. Leveraging his profound knowledge of molecular design. He aims to confront pressing environmental challenges head-on; we look forward to seeing the impactful contributions he will undoubtedly bring to our team and the broader scientific community.
