Development Rookiefest was originally envisioned by Nancy Qian, a Global Poverty Research Lab faculty affiliate and professor in the Kellogg School of Management. The event began in 2018 with the purpose of bringing a select group of the year’s development PhD students to Northwestern to present their job market papers to an audience of development scholars in the Chicago and the greater Midwest region. Rookiefest is one of the highlights of the year because it allows for both a deep discussion of the latest development research and an opportunity for emerging scholars to connect with each other and with faculty & advanced researchers.
