Seth Adams is a 5th year Ph.D. Candidate at Northwestern University’s Center for the Study of Education and the Musical Experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music education and percussion performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master’s degree in music education from Boston University. Seth’s dissertation examines the lived experience of internet-mediated ensemble music. Prior to his studies at Northwestern, Seth was the Director of Bands at UIC College Prep High School in Chicago. Seth also spent a number of years as a music arranger and instructor in the drum and bugle corps activity, and has been a professional bassist for two decades in both Boston and Chicago. Seth’s research interests include music education in urban settings, creativity-centric teaching, emerging music technologies, and the social bonding effects of music making.
