“I enjoyed the class and my RA.” –CPP Student, Summer ‘24
“My favorite RA activity would for sure have to be visiting Chinatown. Going to Chinatown was such a great experience to just eat and shop around with my friends. My favorite part though was taking pictures of my friend, Laura, on her digital camera. Through visiting Chinatown, I learned that I had a talent for photography and it was something that I enjoyed doing. I had an amazing time taking hundreds of photos of my friend, making sure to get all the good angles of course.” –Mariana M., Summer ’24 CPP
“My favorite RA activity was going to Chinatown in Chicago with the new friends I had made here! It was a great way to get to know each other outside of an educational setting and eat some delicious food.” –Kerra L., Summer ‘24 CPP
“Seeing the fireworks on July 4th was my favorite RA event.” –Mason P., Summer ‘24 CPP
“Having the opportunity to feel independent and responsible for my own time was very helpful in envisioning my life in college in the future. Most of all, I had so much fun making new friends and meeting new people, and going to different activities with them and building a community in such a short amount of time.” –CPP Student, Summer ’24
“All of the RA activities were top tier, but among my favorites was the Chinatown trip. We took the L downtown and got to experience such great food, shopping, and boba. It was really early on but bonded me and my friends so much. The RA’s were also a ton of fun, and let’s just say a lot of inside jokes were born that day. I highly recommend doing the RA activities, they’re a great way to fill time with friends!” -Mia, Summer ‘24 CPP
“The most memorable activity would be the fireworks. Me and my new friends walked towards the lakeside and were taking lots of amazing photos during that night, we had such a great time. Another activity was the crochet activity, it was really fun, and we were talking about getting more wool and stuff to keep on doing it even after the program. The activities really made my time during the 2 weeks because we really had a lot of free time and the activities filled up the time and gave us a great time to socialize and try new stuff. –Jiayang Y., Summer ’24 CPP
“My favorite RA activity was watching Teen Beach in the basement with all of my friends. I grew up on Disney, so watching this movie brought back a lot of happy memories. This was especially fun because my sister and I used to watch this movie on repeat when we were younger, so rewatching reminded me of all the fun times my sister and I have shared. However, there were also many people who have never seen this movie, and I enjoyed watching all of my friends’ reactions as they watched it for the first time. Through this movie I met a lot of people who loved Disney movies, and their soundtracks, allowing me to branch out through shared interests.” –Madison, Summer ‘24 CPP
“The bonfire was so much fun! We all played volleyball and made s’mores.” –Hannah G., Summer ‘24 CPP
“My favorite RA activity was writing a future letter to myself hosted by Virtuous. I remembered I signed up for it only because I thought it was mandatory for our RA group (which is not true), but the vibe and conversations between the RA and my peers really drew me in and kept me there. In casual conversations I got to know their talents, their childhood, their silliest act so far, and their dreams. I cherish this opportunity to make connections and learn from others, and RA activities gave a lot of opportunities for it.” –Boqian W., Summer ‘24 CPP
“I loved the Talent Show and Pie RA! Everyone was so nice and talented and both are really satisfying to see.” –Chloe W., Summer ‘24 CPP
“My favorite RA activity by far was the trip to Chinatown! It was such a fun area with tea shops, stores, and restaurants. In addition to having the best boba of my life, I also rode the L for the first time. This trip was so memorable because I met a new friend while I was there, and she and I keep in touch to this day.” –Molly M., Summer ‘24 CPP
“I really enjoy the RA activity — song association. On the first day of CPP, my friend and I were still searching in the basement for where the activity was taking place. When we arrived, there weren’t many people there initially. We entered the room, sat on the sofa, and waited for the song association to begin. The vibe in the room was so great throughout the activity. We sang and laughed, and I even went on stage twice, getting the words “stay” and “queen,” although I messed up a bit – it was pretty funny. I still found it enjoyable to engage and try to think of songs I’d heard before.” –Haojia X., Summer ‘24 CPP
“Two of my favorite RA activities during the CPP program have been the song association game and the slime party. The song association was so much fun – we’d get a prompt word and then race to see who could come up with a song that included that word the fastest. It really got our competitive sides lol. Both activities were not only incredibly entertaining, but they also helped me make new friends and learn new things.” –CPP Student, Summer ‘24
“My RA activity was cozy and nostalgic. For me, it was especially meaningful as I learned about a new culture by making dirt cups with pudding, something I had never tried before. Mixing crushed Oreos and garnishing with gummy worms, the “dirt” went everywhere, but it tasted so good that I wished I had discovered it earlier. I enjoyed it with my friend while working on my essays—another memorable, cozy night in the lounge.” –Hsinyu W., Summer ‘24 CPP
