The City Wears Nothing

This piece was inspired by the distant, echoing sounds of the city in the evening stillness, as I experienced them through my Boston apartment window, facing a brick skylight, on the fifth floor. Through chordal oscillations, between struggle and meditation, constant and often indiscernible timbral shifts, beatings, consonance and dissonance in waves of unpredictability and persistence, the city insists on its loneliness. It is painted soft and loud; it is here and nowhere. It sounds red, white, black, grey and naked. It is exposed to everything and nothing.
