Eight or nine trainees are appointed to the training grant each year. The Steering Committee solicits applications from second year trainees from IBiS, DGP, NUIN or MSTP based on their area of research and academic performance. Based on the application (a brief summary of current and future research, CV, transcripts and two letters of recommendation), finalists whose work is a good fit for the training grant are selected. Finalists are interviewed by the Steering Committee, which selects the appointees. Once appointed, most students are supported for two years. However, students who exhibit exceptional leadership and research excellence can be appointed for a third year of support.
