Chicago Field Studies is an incredible program. CFS is giving me the opportunity to get real, hands-on experience in the business field while receiving academic credit. It is allowing me to develop my professional skillset and I already know some of my future successes will be in part because of the lessons I am learning at Nielsen.

Nielsen thus far has been a very humbling experience for me. I am learning so much from so many different, intelligent, high-performing people. I have seen how hard they work, how much they pay attention to detail, and how crucial staying organized is to being successful in the workplace. Every employee’s work ethic has pushed me to be better each day and it’s been so exciting learning something new every day. I am so grateful to have received this opportunity because I feel like I have a leg up on my peers who have not been in a business setting yet.

In addition to gaining new knowledge and skills, Nielsen has been incredibly fun. The people around me are so nice and helpful. There are plenty of company-wide bonding activities that bring employees closer together (like having Halloween skits with your section compete against the rest of the floor). Moreover, I have been able to create a network and go have lunch with other analysts and managers, all of whom gave me great advice moving forward; I am so happy to have created awesome relationships with my co-workers.

On top of the internship, I have been pleasantly surprised by how much I have enjoyed the CFS class. The other students are incredibly engaged and our class has had many thoughtful discussions from a variety of business ethics topics. Professor Wieda is very supportive, yet challenges every student to defend their position. The content is very interesting and I would recommend this class to anyone at Northwestern to take because of how much you get to learn from a variety of industries.

Overall, my CFS experience has been nothing short of amazing. From resume and interview help to fun times at the office and plugging data into excel sheets, my Nielsen experience, and whole CFS experience, is something I will cherish for the rest of my life.
