Interning with Shore Capital Partners through Chicago Field Studies has been one of my best experiences of college. Working in private equity has been a goal of mine for a long time, and my time at Shore really enforced my desire to pursue a career in the industry. Having once been a pre-med student before transferring into Math and Economics, the fact that Shore specialized in the health care sector really boosted my interest and passion in the work.

As an intern, I worked on measuring key performance indicators of urgent care clinics in Tennessee, which is one of Shore’s portfolio companies. In addition, I created introduction memos on new deal opportunities, short models valuing divestitures, and a comprehensive roadmap outlining a strategic proposal regarding a new niche for investment. It’s really been an intensive boot camp for the PE world.

The Business Field Studies class has been great as well. Professor Butler has done a fantastic job of helping us step behind the curtain and examine the intricacies beyond just everyday work like informal networks and hierarchies of power. It’s been very rewarding, and I would absolutely recommend the program to students in the future.
