Barbara Burton
Barbara Burton (BA’66) was a journalism major at the Medill School of Journalism from September 1966 to February 1969, until she withdrew from Northwestern. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of the District of Columbia in 1986 and a J.D. from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in 1990. After working as an associate in energy law in a Washington, D.C. law firm for three years, she became a public utility consumer advocate, representing the public utility ratepayers and consumers of the District of Columbia. She retired in December 2020 after serving the public for over twenty-seven years.
