Jake VanBelzen

Tiffany Ge

Tiffany is from NJ. She received her B.A. in Biology with a minor in music from Cornell and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the IBiS program at Northwestern. She was Cellular and Molecular Basis of Disease Training Program trainee from 2019-2020. Tiffany is interested in how nucleoporins influence genome organization and transcription. Outside of the lab, Tiffany likes to play volleyball and boardgames. She also enjoys cooking (and eating).

Alexis Jacob

Alexis is from GA. She received her B.S. in Biochemistry from Georgia Tech and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the IBiS program at Northwestern. She was a Molecular Biophysics Training Program trainee from 2021-2023. Alexis is interested in the impact of gene positioning on transcription dynamics and enjoys using live cell microscopy. Outside of the lab, Alexis likes to paint, knit, attend theater, and hang out with her cat Koda.

Brooke Angell

Brooke is from VT. She received her B.A. in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry from Middlebury College and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the IBiS program at Northwestern. She was a Biotechnology Training Program trainee from 2021-2023. Brooke is interested in the molecular mechanism of transcript buffering and enjoys using next generation sequencing. Outside of the lab, Brooke likes to run, bake, reading, and visiting local breweries.

Brent Groubert

Brent is from WI. He received his B.S. in Biochemistry from University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently a Ph.D. student in the IBiS program at Northwestern. Before his graduate studies, Brent was a post-bacc at the NIH in the Grewal lab. He is currently a Cellular and Molecular Basis of Disease Training Program trainee. Brent is interested in how chromatin modifications are epigenetically inherited. Outside of the lab, Brent likes to lift, cook, and root for the Green Bay Packers.

Simon Brandt

Simon Brandt

Simon is from Germany and received his B.S. from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). Simon is currently finishing his master’s degree from LMU in the Brickner Lab. He is shocked by inflation in the USA. Outside of the lab, Simon likes hiking, pinball, and reading fantasy.
