Big Ten Augmented Intelligence Bowl
The Institute for Augmented Intelligence in Medicine (I.AIM) at Northwestern University is hosting the First Annual Big Ten Augmented Intelligence Bowl to address health disparities. Our goal is to bring together talent in medicine and computer science to raise the profile of augmented intelligence (AI) across the 14 institutions representing the Big Ten Academic Alliance.
A multi-disciplinary team from each school will identify a problem, pitch a creative solution, and present their proof of concept. How can AI address health disparities? Team proposals could include risk prediction, imaging analysis, augmented decision making, or mitigating bias. The first-place prize is $35,000.
The competition will be a two-part event. In April, we will convene the teams from each Big Ten school to evaluate their proposals on a set of criteria, including quality, feasibility, scalability, and presentation. Teams that progress in the competition will receive mentoring and resources to develop their AI implementation proposals. They will have 6 months to prepare for the final round of competition this fall.
The Big Ten Augmented Intelligence Bowl will create a collaborative and supportive learning environment for participants. Teams will be exposed to industry and academic leaders during educational seminars and workshops. Additionally, students will be building a supportive community for continuing collaborations.
Best of luck!
