by Gene Kannenberg, Jr., Research and Media Assistant, Herskovits Library of African Studies
The work of the artist known as Ganzeer often focuses on protest movements in the cause of social justice. One of our most impressive collection items is his “Trouble Trunk” (2015), which we have displayed several times. This large box (see pencil in the first photo for scale) contains 15 prints in various mediums, a copy of the book Walls of Freedom: Street Art of the Egyptian Revolution, 1 Ganzeer zine published for the set, 6 double sided currencies, 2 reproductions of stickers and a USB flash drive containing additional materials. Information on Ganzeer’s career can be found in Herskovits Library of Africana catalog.
